Welcome to Poplar Lodge, one of our beautifully crafted luxury self-catering lodges located in the peaceful and picturesque village of Shincliffe – just 1.2 miles (or a 20-minute walk) from the centre of historic Durham. With the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and Castle nearby, and excellent road links from the A1(M) (only 5 miles away), Poplar Lodge is the ideal base for exploring the city and countryside of the North East of England.

Do you have a washing machine?
The lodges don’t have washing machines I’m afraid but we can happily recommend some local laundrette services for you.
Is there a Kitchen
Yes, we have a fully equipped kitchen featuring hobs, oven, microwave, grill, dishwasher, coffee machine and a wine cooler.
Is there a Park?
Yes, Shincliffe Village park is right next door to the Garden Centre. Many describe it as the best play park around, featuring a zip wire, mini football pitch, swings and benches.
Can I park there?
Free parking is available at Unbox at Poplar Tree.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are allowed at Unbox at Poplar Tree, but please note that charges may apply. To bring your pets, please look at Sycamore and Cedar Lodge.
Is there a restaurant?
Unfortunately there isn’t an on site restaurant, however the holiday homes are located on a Garden Centre site with an award winning Brambles Coffee Shop where you can enjoy a selection of hot and cold meals and delightful drinks as well as sampling their Afternoon Tea’s on offer.
